Freshman point guard Bobby Brown scored 16 points and Pape Sow added 14
points and a game-high 9 rebounds Saturday night to lead Cal State Fullerton
to an 82-67 non-conference mens basketball victory over Northern
Arizona.
Kelly Golob led the Lumberjacks (2-4) with 24 points, hitting 6 of 7 3-point
field goals. Aaron Bond had 11 points and Kodiak Yazzie scored 10 for
the Lumberjacks.
Fullerton (2-3) also got double-figure scoring from Yaphett King (11)
and Brian Pruitt (10) as the Titans jumped out to a 50-33 halftime lead
and maintained a double-digit lead the rest of the game.
NAU beat Fullerton, 77-60, back on Nov. 21 in Flagstaff.
Fullerton won the battle of the backboards, 40-27, and NAU made only 11
of 23 free throws.
The Titans took an early 4-0 lead and never trailed. NAU tied the game
at 6-6 but the Titans responded with a 21-6 run keyed by two 3-pointers
by Brown and one by King.
A total of 14 NBA scouts were in attendance, watching Sow after spending
the afternoon down the freeway at the John Wooden Classic at the Arrowhead
Pond.
Fullerton next plays at USC on Tuesday night.
