Darrell Tucker scored 23 points and pulled 11 rebounds as the San Francisco
men's basketball team won its third straight game, defeating shorthanded
Cal State Fullerton, 75-61, Saturday night at USF.
Cal State Fullerton (2-7), playing without leading scorers Ralphy Holmes
(sore right shoulder) and Pape Sow (suspended indefinitely), came out
strong early and led 18-13, before the Dons went on a 13-0 run to take
control of the game. Shamell Stallworth, who scored 10 tonight, hit consecutive
threes to put USF up on top. Tucker added a two and a three and the Dons
never looked back, leading 34-25 at the half and building the lead to
as much as 21 (69-48) in the second period.
USF shot 48.3% from the floor and outrebounded the Titans, 36-27. James
Bayless added 10 points and 10 rebounds for USF (4-6), who had 10 people
score. Cal State Fullerton was paced by Bron Groomes' 16 points and 13
by Derick Andrew.
The Titans open Big West Conference play at Cal Poly on Thursday.
