Anthony White, Derrick Anderson and Byron Wilson each scored 16 points
Wednesday night to lead the Los Angeles City Stars to an 86-80 exhibition
victory at Cal State Fullerton.
The Titans were led by guard Ralphy Holmes, who had 23 points and 7 rebounds.
Amir Bar-Netzer hit all 6 shots from the floor on his way to 13 points
and Pape Sow added 12 for Fullerton.
D'Cean Bryant's basket with 2:25 remaining broke a 79-79 tie and gave
the Stars the lead for good. Sow missed one of two free throws to make
it 81-80 and the Stars got a bucket from Jelani Janisse and two free throws
from Derrick Higgins around a pair of Titan turnovers in the final minute.
Fullerton got back into the game with an 11-2 run that turned a 76-67
deficit at 6:19 into the tie at 79-79, capped by Holmes difficult fall
away jumper.
The Titans' biggest lead of the game was 6 points at 53-47 early in the
second half. Fullerton led by 2 at the half after the Stars jumped out
to an early 26-16 lead.
Fullerton opens the regular season on Nov. 22 against Texas A&M -Corpus
Christi in the Hawaiian Airlines Tip-Off Tournament in Honolulu, Hawaii.
The Titans played without center Babacar Camara and forward Jamal Forcheney,
who are nursing leg injuries. Fifth-year senior Brandon Campbell played
only 5 minutes while nursing a foot injury)
