Demetrius Jackson scored a season-high 28 points including
a 3-point basket with 7.5 seconds remaining Saturday night to lead Pacific
to a 62-61 Big West Conference victory over Cal State Fullerton.
The win improved Pacific's record to 11-7, 6-3 and was its eighth in a
row over Fullerton (6-13, 4-5), which got 20 points from Ralphy Holmes
and 15 from Anthony Bolton, who missed a jump shot at the final buzzer.
Pape Sow had given Fullerton a 61-59 lead on a layup with 15 seconds left.
Jackson brought the ball up court and fired quickly from at least 25 feet
away. He scored 15 of Pacific's final 17 points. The exception was Myree
Bowden's layup with 47 seconds left that tied it at 59.
the biggest lead of the second was 5 points by Fullerton at 50-45 with
6:15 to play. But Jackson scored the next eight points on two free throrws
and a pair of treys for a 53-50 Tigeer lead with 4:37 remaining.
Jackson hit 7 of 9 shots overall, 5 of 7 from 3-point range and all nine
free throws attempts. He also had 3 assists and only one turnover.
Fullerton had the biggest lead of the game in the first half at 27-21,
but the Tigers caught them at intermission at 27 as Jackson hit three
free throws and Miah Davis hit a 3-pointer.
Sow was making hiis first appearnce for Fullerton since an 11-game suspension.
He scored 9 points and grabbed a game-high 7 rebounds in 25 minutes off
the bench.
