Utah State Defeats Cal State Fullerton, 60-45

Utah State center Jeremy Vague scored 14 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead Utah State to a 60-45 win over Cal State Fullerton in a Big West Conference men's basketball contest Thursday night in Logan, Utah.

The Titans fell to 4-18 overall and 1-12 in Big West play while the Aggies posted their sixth consecutive victory to improve to 19-4 overall and 11-3 in league play.

Desmond Penigar added 11 points and five rebounds for the Aggies, who shot .431 for the game.

Cal State Fullerton forward Pape Sow led all scorers with a game-high 17 points and nine rebounds for the Titans, who have lost 18 straight at Logan. Guard Kevin Richardson was the next on the scoring list with nine points and three rebounds.

Utah State led just 22-19 with 4:35 left in the first half, but forced Fullerton into four straight turnovers and turned three of them into scores. Kevin Williams then knocked down a running one-hander just before the buzzer to give the Aggies a 32-21 halftime lead.

The Titans came within 10 points early in the second half on seven straight points by Richardson. Vague countered with a short jumper and Williams added a 3-pointer to start a 13-2 run that made it 51-30 with less than eight minutes remaining.

Tony Brown, USU's second-leading scorer with a 16.7 points per game average, finished with a season-low two points, but had seven assists and three steals.

Cal State Fullerton returns to action on Saturday night (Feb. 16) as they travel to Moscow, Idaho to face the Vandals at 7:05 p.m.
