Cooper and Tucker Headline Early Signing Period Dec. 2, 2004 Fullerton, CA
The Cal State Fullerton baseball program announced Wednesday the signing
of seven high school prospects to national letters of intent during the
fall recruiting period.
“We are very pleased with our early signing period and are fortunate
to have gotten some of the best players in the state of California. This
signing class is a good blend of pitching and position players and should
fill some of the voids that we will have in 2006.” said recruiting
coordinator and assistant coach Jason Gill.
David Cooper (Stockton, Calif.) and Ryan Tucker
(Temple City, Calif.) lead the class of high school players with commitments
to the Titans.
Cooper, a left-handed pitcher/first baseman from Tokay High School in
Lodi, California, is ranked #38 on Baseball America’s Top 100 High
School Baseball Prospect List and is a member of the USA Baseball Junior
National team. He hit .316 (6-for-19) with a double and 2 RBI in six games
for USA this past summer.
Possibly one of the best arms in the country, the right-handed Tucker
was 11-1 with two saves for Temple City High School his junior year. He
struck out 126 batters and allowed only 5 earned runs (0.41 ERA) in 84.2
inning for the Rams in 2004.
