he aggravated a hip injury against Long Beach State on Mar. 23 • During
those 10 games, he hit safely in nine (including multiple hits in six) and
batted .457 with seven RBI • Had just nine at bats the rest of the
way• Made his first start in the series finale vs. Stanford and picked
up his first collegiate hit – an eighth-inning single off J.D.
Willcox • Hit his first career homer and drove in all three Titan runs
in a 5-3 loss to Miami at Fullerton’s Kia Baseball Bash on Mar. 2 • Had
hits in his first three at bats against Nevada on Mar. 15.

captain for Coach Kahai Shishido at H.P. Baldwin H.S. in Wailuku, Maui,
Hawaii • Named Hawaii’s first-team all-state catcher as a senior,
while also garnering Maui Interscholastic League MVP honors • Was a
Maui News Sports Spotlight Athlete • As a junior, earned first-team
all-league and second-team all-state recognition and was also named to the
state championship all-tournament team • Had a .359 career batting
average (.394 as a freshman, .316 as a sophomore, .478 as a junior, .328
as a senior) and a .993 career fielding percentage, including perfect marks
his freshman and senior years • Also played basketball his sophomore
year • Was on the honor roll all four years and graduated with honors
• Is listed in “Who’s Who Among American High School Students.”
