TITANS ’00: Minus bad outings against Nevada and Sacramento State, where he surrendered a combined 10 earned runs in one inning, Martin was spectacular, posting a miniscule 0.44 ERA (one earned run in 20.2 innings) and walking just three • Earned his lone win when he allowed just one hit, walked none and struck out four in 3.0 innings against Cal on March 12 • Picked up saves against Pacific (March 18), when he went a season-high 4.0 innings, and New Mexico State on April 1 • Made just three appearances after suffering an avulsion fracture in his right elbow on April 8.

Two-year letterman with many honors for Coach Ron Davini • As a senior, was selected Central Region Player of the Year, East Valley Player of the Year, Arizona 5A all-state and all-city • Also a runner-up for Easton’s national Defensive Player of the Year award • Batted .390 with two home runs and 12 stolen bases and posted a 6-1 pitching record with eight saves and a 2.45 ERA while striking out 54 hitters • As a junior, was named all-region, all-city and honorable mention All-East Valley • Injured most of his sophomore season • Was an AIA (Arizona Interscholastic Association) scholar-athlete his junior and senior seasons • Also a member of the Letterman Club and Spanish Honor Society.

PERSONAL: Born on March 27, 1980, in Tucson, Arizona • Parents are Bruce and Joyce Martin • Majoring in history with the hopes of becoming a high school teacher and coach • Would like to see Arizona added to the schedule • Says Charlie Webb, an assistant coach at his high school, has had the most influence on his baseball career • Favorite major leaguer is Jeffrey Hammonds and favorite team is the New York Mets • Says his most prized possessions are his Royal Daulton Toby Character Mugs • Most interesting summer job was working in a warehouse at Allied Signal • Favorite food is sweet and sour chicken.
